It all started in the Highlands of Scotland
Collies began as herding dogs in Scotland and gained in popularity after Queen Victoria fell in love with the breed in the 1860s.
More recently, many people have fond memories of the beloved Roughcoat Collie, Lassie, from the popular TV series and movies.
Collies have deep roots in Texas. Reveille, the official mascot of Texas A&M University since 1931, is a Roughcoat Collie.
The American Kennel Club recognizes Collies for their love of people (especially children), ease of training, and intelligence.
Collies continue to be prized for their beauty, intelligence, friendliness, and loyalty.
